TestimonialsWhat a pleasure to work with a consultant that knows historic materials and buildings, works efficiently and on time (even on short notice), and is pleasant throughout. Laura fit the bill and did a wonderful job assessing the masonry issues at St. Luke's Church, Smithfield. Thanks to Laura, the Board is ready to implement the work needed to preserve the oldest brick church in America for future generations. Thank you Laura!
- Camille Agricola Bowman, Easement Technical Advisor, Virginia Department of Historic Resources In March 2009, as president of the 1758 Cupola House, a National Historic Landmark buildings with National Significance, I applied for a Conservation Assessment Program Grant administered by Heritage Preservation. The grant was awarded and we began the task of reviewing assessors approved by Heritage Preservation. We were fortunate to find Laura Blokker, Southeast Preservation. Laura met every expectation in her performance. She explained in detail to our board the purpose and extent of her assessment plan. The output she provided has been priceless, it assured we knew the condition, problems and remedies for the restoration we planned to undertake. Her input was invaluable in securing a Save America's Treasures Grant and other funding. Laura's report has been copied and is required reading for all new board members who are associated with the Cupola House preservation. It is a document used often and is our "Bible" for care and maintenance. Laura is professional in her work, articulate, and dependable. She is highly recommended by the Cupola House Association, at 93 years old it is the first such association formed in NC for the preservation of a historic building. - Robert Quinn, President Ex-officio, Cupola House |
